Bolton Wanderers have revealed on their official website that a contract extension for Matthew Taylor has been signed.

According to the new deal, the player will don the Trotters' jersey until 2012.

A statement on the club's official website read, "Matt Taylor has become the latest Bolton Wanderers player to sign an extension to his deal and commit his future to the club.

"The Wanderers midfielder has signed a one-year extension and is now contracted at the Reebok Stadium until the summer of 2012."

Meanwhile, manager Gary Megson has showered praise on Taylor by acknowledging the commitment shown by the winger.

"Matt is a hard working player who always gives his all," the former Leicester City manager said.

"He scored ten goals for us last season and is a big influence with his set-pieces and work-rate.

"He had a key role to play last season and will have again this season. He is another member of the squad who leads by example."

Megson also proclaimed that the 27-year-old will prove to be an invaluable asset to the Wanderers.

"He and his family are settled here and I'm sure he can go from strength to strength at the club," he remarked.

Kevin Davies and Gary Cahill also recently signed extensions to their contracts with the club.
