Chelsea are readying a €47m offer for Atletico Madrid star Sergio Aguero, according to a report in Marca.

The Argentina international has been linked with a move to the Premier League all summer, with Chelsea and Manchester United both understood to be keen on the gifted striker.

Chelsea envoys are reportedly in the Spanish capital to conduct negotiations for Aguero, who has a buy-out clause of €60 million.

But the Blues boss, Roman Abramovic, knows he is in a race against time, since he has to wrap up a deal for Aguero before Wednesday, when Atletico meet Panathinaikos in a Champions League qualifier.

The Spanish paper further suggests that, should Aguero depart Atletico, the Colchoneros will use the funds generated by that sale to land Real Madrid duo Arjen Robben and Wesley Sneijder.

Chelsea will, however, have to deflect interest from Manchester United, who reportedly dispatched scouts to Moscow to check on Aguero in Wednesday's international friendly against Russia.
