A former team-mate of the Potters boss believes that Pulis deserves a statue outside the Britannia Stadium...

Former team-mate and close friend Ian Holloway is of the opinion that Stoke City manager Tony Pulis deserves to have a statue of himself erected outside the Britannia Stadium.

"In Tony Pulis, everybody should trust," Holloway is quoted by the BBC as saying.

The Blackpool boss looked back on the return of Pulis to the managerial position at the Potters in 2006, explaining that the club should have expressed more faith in the gaffer.

“[Stoke City] maybe didn't do that when he came back, but they should be building a statue to him now," the Blackpool boss said.

When asked if the club could repeat its feat of a mid-table finish in its sophomore season in the Premier League, the former Leicester City manager responded in the affirmative.

"I think they'll do it again this year as well," he remarked.

Stoke begin their league campaign at home against newly promoted Burnley on Saturday.
