Cardiff City Will Not Be Bullied By Hull City Over Ross McCormack - Dave Jones
The Bluebirds manager claims that his Tigers equivalent will have to do the same as anyone else if he wants to land the Scotland striker...
Cardiff City striker Ross McCormack is another player in whom the East Yorkshire club have a strong interest, with Sky Sports reporting today that the Bluebirds had turned down a £4 million Hull bid for the player, whose agent, Willie McKay, seemed to feel that Cardiff should be doing more to facilitate his client's move to a Premier League club.
"Hull had a bid rejected by Cardiff and the deal has been held up by a third-party who has tried to get involved in the move," McKay said.
"It is upsetting for Ross as he just wants to concentrate on his football and he does not need this hanging over him.
"Like any player Ross would like to play in the Premier League, but unfortunately third-parties get involved saying they will get things done and they only end up complicating matters.
"At the minute Ross is a Cardiff player and he will continue to give 100 per cent to Cardiff.
"I believe Peter Ridsdale [Cardiff chairman] is a realist and if the right offer comes in he will sell. If it doesn't he won't sell, simple as that."
However, Cardiff manager Dave Jones took an intransigent line on behalf of the Welsh outfit today, affirming that if Hull boss Phil Brown wanted the player, then he must match the Bluebirds' valuation of him.
"They put a bid on which they knew was nowhere near what we were going to accept," Jones told Sky Sports News.
"Phil's come out and said that we've signed a player for £100,000 and 12 months later we're asking for £4 or £5 million. That's because we've worked with him. He's just scored 23 goals, he's become a full international.
"It doesn't matter where he is or how much we paid for him, that's the valuation we've put on the boy. If Phil wants him he knows what he's got to do.
"It's no good bleating on about it. That's what the selling club value him at. That's what we expect. If you want him, that's what you've got to pay.
"We won't be bullied into it. We're just as big a club. We have our players, we have our prices, and if he wants him then come and pay it.
"If you can't pay it, then go and look somewhere else."
