Patrice Evra Claims Manchester United Are Not Weaker After Cristiano Ronaldo Sale
The roaming full-back believes the Premier League champions are as strong as ever.
The combined departures of Carlos Tevez and Cristiano Ronaldo to Manchester City and Real Madrid respectively, have done little to quash the might of Premier League champions Manchester United, according to French international Patrice Evra.
The left-back believes that the summer recruitment employed by the club, together with the manner in which the squad has performed during pre-season, can balance out the roles vacated by both the tireless Argentinean and the fleet-footed trickster from Madeira.
"They are two big players," he said to the Press Association. "But the star of the team is the team.
"Two players alone do not make a team," Evra added. "We have signed some good
players. I can already see a good team coming along and we are all confident about doing well with this team as it is." "We are moving along bit by bit in preparation for our first match of the season on August 9 [the Community Shield] against Chelsea. We want to at least defend the titles we won last season and try to win the Champions League." Alan Dawson, Goal.com
