The former Liverpool and Wigan Athletic hitman suffered after a clash of heads in the opening fixture against Malagea and admitted he is still getting headaches.
Villa boss, Martin O'Neill will now have to decide whether to risk the striker in the hope of reaching the semi-finals of the tournament.
O'Neill's can progress but must win by two goals to reach the next stage of the tournament after Atalante beat Malaga 3-1.
The task will be made tougher with the absence of Heskey who admitted to The Express & Star, "I’m starting to feel better but my head still hurts."
"It was a nasty clash of heads. I can remember us kicking off the game. I don’t think I lost consciousness but after that I can’t remember anything, until waking up on the treatment table."
The 31-year-old had impressive campaign last season as he earned a move to Aston Villa and a recall to the England squad under new manager Fabio Capello.
