Sunderland Boss Steve Bruce Will Unlock My Best Form - Kieran Richardson
The midfielder is brimming with confidence after the arrival of the former Wigan boss on Wearside...
The former Manchester United winger grabbed a brace as Sunderland ran out two-nil winners against Spanish side Atletico Madrid.
The 24-year-old was tried out in a new advanced role as manager Steve Bruce experimented with an attacking 4-3-3 formation.
"Results are not the be-all-and-end-all in pre-season, but I want to win every game I play." Ricahrdson told The Newcastle Evening Chronicle.
"I have no doubt I will score more goals this season. I have confidence in my ability and the team-mates around me."
Richardson appears to be one of the winners from Bruce's new, strict fitness and training regimes as he admitted the squad was "fitter and stronger" than ever.
"The new manager has come in with his new staff and it has been really good for the lads," he explained.
"We already feel fitter and stronger than we were at the start of last season."
The versatile left-footer also revealed he is willing to play anywhere to benefit his side and was keeping his focus on the start of the season, adding, "I would enjoy that role, but we don’t know what the manager will do with the formation and I will do my best wherever he asks me to play.
"It is a case now of keeping us ticking over and making sure we keep our sharpness before the first game of the season at Bolton." he concluded.
