Manchester United's Ryan Giggs Hails Michael Owen Impact
The veteran United winger says he already believes Owen has been a great addition to the side...
The former Liverpool man made it four goals in four games for his new club, helping them to an 8-2 win over the Chinese side, as they completed their Asian tour on a high.
The 29-year-old striker was a bargain summer buy for manager Sir Alex Ferguson, arriving on a free transfer, after his contract with former club Newcastle United ended.
The transfer was questioned by some, but Giggs, who grabbed his first ever hat-trick for the club against Hangzhou, feels Owen has done well since arriving at Old Trafford.
Commenting on Owen's performance against Hangzhou, Giggs told Sky Sports, "It just proves what we all knew anyway, that he's a goalscorer.
"He scores all kinds of goals and he's done really well so far."
Red Devils boss Ferguson was also pleased with Owen's contribution, and feels he is settling in well to life at United.
Speaking to MUTV, Ferguson said, "Michael's contribution was very good.
"I think he was delighted to join us and was excited to play for us. He's excited to move to a club where there's attacking play all the time and I think that's what he needs." The Red Devils will now travel to Munich to take part in the Audi Cup, as they step up their pre-season campaign against tougher opposition. Nick Turner, Goal.com
