Bolton Wanderers' Lee Chung-Yong Deal Not Yet Completed

The Trotters deal for the South Korean still hangs in the balance...

Lee Cheong Yong(FC Seoul) - interview
Bolton Wanderers have almost completed the signing of South Korean star Lee Chung-Yong, but still face some obstacles before the deal can be completed.

The Premier League side agreed a fee of £2.1 million with South Korean side FC Seoul, and the player has also agreed personal terms with the Trotters. However, the deal is being held up by the player's international clearance.

The player's application for a work permit should be completed in the next 15 days, but nothing is certain as yet .

The 21-year-old may have to wait at least two weeks, therefore, to make his debut for the club.

Speaking to The Bolton News, Lee said, "On my second day in England, I had the medical tests and looked at the training facilities. I thought they were very good. I was jealous.

"It was my dream to play there, so I am so happy.

"To adjust quickly, I need to get to know my team-mates. I met manager Gary Megson a few times. He spoke to me but as I can't speak English, I couldn’t understand him.

"We haven’t quite agreed the details of the contract but we will do so when the work permit is sorted.

"In about 15 days, I should get the work permit. Until it comes, I will spend my time training as hard as possible."

The South Korea international will become the seventh player from the East Asian country to play in the Premier League, and Bolton boss Gary Megson is eager to unleash the player in the club's pre-season campaign.
