Robbie Keane believes Tottenham Hotspur could cause a surprise and break into the top four this season.
With all of the media's attention focussed on Manchester City, Keane believes that Spurs can fly under the radar and cause an upset.
He told The Daily Star, "We’ve got the firepower to do it now.
"I’m sure if other players come in, it will only add to the squad. [Peter] Crouch is a good player but I don’t really want to talk about players who are still with other clubs.
"This could be a big year for us. Breaking into the top four has to be the aim."
Keane went on to state that Spurs' absence from European competition could turn out to be a blessing this season.
"Being in Europe can be a hindrance," he said.
"With all the travelling and stuff, it can be tiring.
"We’re not in Europe this year, so we have no excuses, and we have to make the most of it."
Finally, Keane expressed confidence that Tottenham could compete with the Citizens, stating, "City are at the same level as us.
"They have a similar squad to ours, and they’ve spent a lot of money. Good luck to them.
"But we’ve got to concentrate on what we do.
"Maybe we can be the quiet ones and come from nowhere."
