Hull City Boss Phil Brown Hopes To Sign Bobby Zamora & Is Interested In Joe Ledley
The Tigers' boss is waiting for the Cottagers' striker to make his mind up, and there could soon be a Welsh arrival on Humberside...
Hull City manager Phil Brown has revealed that the club have now made Fulham striker Bobby Zamora an offer, and that the striker, for whom a reported £5 million fee was apparently agreed this week between the clubs, is now mulling over whether to make the switch to East Yorkshire.
"I spoke with Bobby on Tuesday and we have left an offer in his hands," Brown told Sky Sports News.
"It is one of them where it is a waiting game. He has a lot of things to consider. You are hopeful you are successful with the offer to the player.
"I got the impression he was well impressed with what he had to see and well impressed with what I had to say."
The City boss also hinted that rumours linking his club with a move for highly-rated Cardiff City midfielder Joe Ledley did have more than a grain of truth in them.
"The rumour mill isn't a million miles off," he confirmed. "People say there is no smoke without fire. But I haven't followed up any enquiries yet."Brown was also hopeful that Hull could hang on to their centre-back Michael Turner, another of his players said to be piquing the interest of other clubs.
"I am very keen to hang onto him. There is no doubt about it, he was our best player last year," he asserted.
"But there are some big clubs out there that can turn young players' heads quite easily. I will be fighting tooth and nail to keep him but everyone has their valuation.
"Hopefully nobody comes up to our valuation and we can hold onto him for a year or two."
As for the Tigers' record signing, midfielder Jimmy Bullard, still recovering from a serious knee injury after managing only 32 minutes of first team action following his January move from Fulham, the City gaffer was optimistic that the player would be back in action soon.
"Jimmy's probably, at this moment in time, and I know doctors and surgeons don't like to hear it, but [he] looks way ahead of schedule at the minute," he revealed.
"The knee looks fairly solid and looks quite stable, a lot more stable than what it was. Fingers crossed maybe the first game in the Carling Cup, but it's difficult to put a time on it when someone's had such a traumatic time - not just with the knee but with the broken leg as well.
"I'm not a medic and I don't want to pitch in too early or pitch in too late, but I'm very hopeful that the signs that we're getting from Jimmy are very, very positive and who knows? Before the end of September?
"I've no idea. But it's very positive."
