Jimmy Bullard Eyes Return For Hull City

The dynamic midfielder is hoping his injury nightmare will be behind him soon...

Hull City midfielder Jimmy Bullard has not had a great time on Humberside since becoming the Tigers' record signing in January, when he moved from Fulham in a deal reportedly worth £5 million.

He only managed 32 minutes of action on his first team debut against West Ham United before limping off with a severe knee injury.

Bullard had previously endured a nine-month lay-off with knee ligament damage whilst at Fulham, and many observers feared that this injury, to the same knee, might well signal a possible end to the player's top-flight career.

However, things are now moving forward in his rehabilitation, and the midfielder is optimistic that he will soon get the chance to show the Tigers' support just what he is capable of.

"It's been a nightmare start to be honest, I'll tell you straight," he revealed to reporters at a press conference today.

"To get out there and play 30 minutes for your new club and then wake up the next day and your knee's a balloon isn't a great start. You know something's wrong.

"But the boys have been fantastic, the club as well. The manager and the chairman have been behind me and backed me. Backed me in a big way.

"It's not been easy. A couple of months ago I was struggling, there were dark times. But now I'm getting closer. I feel like I can kick a ball. I feel like I'm getting closer to running in a couple of weeks.

"I set myself little targets, and in a couple of weeks hopefully I'll be running."
