Sheffield United defender Matthew Kilgallon is set to reject a move to the Premier League, despite interest from Birmingham City and Burnley.

The 25-year-old's future has been in doubt for the past couple of months and he is desperate for the situation to be resolved.

The Premier League duo have reportedly bid £4 million for the defender, and it was expected that the former Leeds United player would move to England's top flight.

The central defender is however set to remain at Bramall Lane, believing he can gain promotion to the top flight with the Championship side.

A new contract for the player is being discussed, and it is set to be signed in the next few days.

The new four-year-deal would mean a £25,000-per week salary for the York-born player.

The former England Under-21 central defender says that negotiations with the South Yorkshire club are ongoing and has said that he is fully confident his future can be sorted out as soon as possible.

Speaking to The Sunday Mirror, Kilgallon said, "I anticipate that, any time now, it will all be resolved."

The 25-year-old has been with the club for the past two years, and has since played 86 league games for the club, scoring three goals.
