Carlo Ancelotti Expects Hard Work And Respect At Chelsea
Ancelotti's message - 'Play well together, stay well together'
Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti is expecting the team to respect him and work hard together in building a new era at Chelsea.
Guus Hiddink was brought in to galvanise The Blues at the end of last season after Luis Felipe Scolari was sacked as boss at Stamford Bridge.
Scolari has since insisted his dismissal was in no small part down to the players at the club, namely Petr Cech, Michael Ballack and Didier Drogba, who he claims disagreed with his training methods.
Ancelotti however is insisting on his new squad having respect for him - something he plans on returning in kind.
"As a player I was not always quiet," the former AC Milan manager told The Sun.
"On the field I was a fighter and I didn't want the opponent to come into my territory.
"Now for me it is about the players having respect for my position as the coach.
"I have to make the decisions and at the same time I have respect for the players. This is my system to bring forward a relationship."
Ancelotti, who won two European Cups while in charge of Milan, is also expecting a level of commitment from his new charges.
He added: "My message to work is to stay every day on the field. To work hard at training, that is my passion.
"My vision is to have players who can play well together and stay well together."
