Graeme Souness Warns Chelsea Players Not To Mess With Carlo Ancelotti
The former Liverpool player has told the Blues to be on their guard...
The Blues have experienced problems in the past with the power that their players have, with former manager Luis Felipe Scolari claiming that Didier Drogba, Petr Cech and Michael Ballack have too much influence at the club.
However, Souness feels that the new boss is capable of dealing with big egos, having managed big names at AC Milan for the past eight years.
The Scotsman clashed with the new Blues boss when the former was playing in Italy for Sampdoria, and knows the Italian is no pushover.
Speaking to Daily Star Sunday, Souness said, "He was a cultured hardman. We had many a tumble.
The former Liverpool midfielder also said that players hold too much power within their clubs, but feels Ancelotti will cope admirably.
"You never say never, but how do you tell millionaires what to do?
"Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger are the only success stories I know on how to control them.
"Players run football but I have every faith in the likes of Ancelotti. He’s up there with those two.
"He showed that at Milan, not an easy club to manage with all of their stars."
The Italian manager was appointed as Guus Hiddink's successor in May, and has already brought in the likes of Ross Turnbull, Daniel Sturridge and Yuri Zhirkov as the club make a push for the Champions League this season.
