Manchester United defender Gary Neville believes Michael Owen has every chance of playing his way back into the England setup after moving to Old Trafford.

Injuries and a lack of form at the end of last season with Newcastle United limited Owen's opportunities at international level under England manager Fabio Capello.

But Neville declared that any player capable of performing well for the Red Devils is well equipped to represent their country.

"I don't think Michael moved to United for England. He's moved to improve Manchester United," Neville told Sky Sports. "But the opportunity is there for him.

"It's difficult for me to suggest whether a player is going to get picked for [the World Cup finals] next year. That will be up to the [England] manager.

"But anyone who plays for United over a season has a great chance of getting into an international team, no matter whether it be England or any other country.

"It's a hard club to play for and if you are playing well and doing well, then you have a great chance."

Owen has made 89 appearances for England throughout the course of his career and is one of the country's top international scorers with 40 goals. However, he has featured just once under Capello.
