Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly joined the race to sign Manchester City captain Richard Dunne.
Dunne has been linked with a move away from Eastlands, and Sunderland appeared to be in pole position for his signature, having submitted a £4 million bid.
However, according to The Sun, Spurs boss Harry Redknapp is prepared to trump the Black Cats' bid and offer £5m.
The 29-year-old came close to joining Redknapp during the gaffer's time at Portsmouth, but was eventually convinced to stay at City.
While the Sky Blues are now willing to let Dunne leave, any deal will have to wait until they can secure a replacement, with John Terry and Joleon Lescott currently their prime targets.
