Manchester United winger Nani is reportedly seeking assurances over his future at the club, following the arrival of Luis Antonio Valencia from Wigan Athletic.

The Portuguese winger has failed to make much of an impact since arriving from Sporting Lisbon in 2007 and remains on the fringes of the first team at Old Trafford.

Whilst the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo appeared to pave the way for Nani to stake his place in the first team, the subsequent arrival of Valencia means he may be set for more time on the bench.

The News of the World claims that Nani is now concerned about his future at the club and wants to discuss the matter with manager Sir Alex Ferguson during pre-season training to discover where he features in the club’s plans.

The tabloid also quotes a club source as saying, “Nani believes his chance has come, following the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo, but the rumours just won't go away and he is looking for answers.”

Nani made just seven Premier League starts for the English champions last season, scoring once, and has been linked with an Old Trafford exit with Spanish clubs Villarreal and Atletico Madrid rumoured to be interested in the 22-year-old.
