Rangers Manager Walter Smith: Squad Still Up For Sale
The manager is still helpless on the transfer market...
Rangers manager Walter Smith has revealed that every player in his squad is still up for sale, despite domestic successes last season.
The Glasgow-based club secured Champions League football for the forthcoming campaign after winning the Scottish Premier League crown.
However, Smith maintains the club's hand is forced, regarding the sale of players due to the financial strains placed upon them.
"What happened in January is still there. Every player is susceptible to a bid," Smith said, according to The Glasgow Sunday Mail.
"We told them circumstances meant we had to sell a player and we're still in that situation.
"I know there's a feelgood factor after winning the double but this doesn't go away.
Smith was keen to add that, while the club cannot necessarily afford to buy big this summer, he does believe in the quality of the existing crop to bring another league title to Ibrox.
He added: "We know we won't have a big-name buy but we DO have a team that can be successful.
"We've lost players like Carlos Cuellar and Alan Hutton and still managed to get success."
