Manchester United Linked With Barcelona Striker Samuel Eto’o - Report

Not content with signing one forward, the English champions may be lining up another in the shape of the 'Samu'...

Manchester United are reportedly set to beat rivals Manchester City to the signature of Barcelona striker Samuel Eto’o.

The News of the World reports that the Cameroon international has decided he does not want to stay at Barca or join Man City and will instead head to Old Trafford.

The report claims that Eto’o is also ready to reduce his wage demands in order to become a Red Devil and link up with Sir Alex Ferguson.

Of course, neighbours City have made no secret of their desire to lure Eto’o, and were reported to have made a “monster bid” for the Barcelona striker.

However, their inconsistent league form last season appears to have put off Eto’o, who may now decide to join their city rivals instead.

Indeed, the British tabloid quotes a source close to the player as saying, “Samuel has not been convinced by a move to a mid-table side in the Premier League and neither will he sign a new deal at Barca.”

Despite having made the surprise move for Newcastle United striker Michael Owen this week, Man United could still be in the market for another forward and, having sold Cristiano Ronaldo, still have plenty of finances at their disposal.
