John Terry Unsure Of Chelsea Captaincy Under Carlo Ancelotti
The Blues skipper does not feel like he is guaranteed to maintain the armband going into the new season.
Chelsea defender John Terry believes he has no assurances that he will captain the club next season, despite wearing the armband for all six of the club's past managers.
Terry was initially handed the captaincy under Claudio Ranieri, and was also awarded the honour while Jose Mourinho, Avram Grant, Luiz Felipe Scolari, Ray Wilkins, and Guus Hiddink were in charge of the west London outfit.
However, he feels unsure whether new manager Carlo Ancelotti, who held great European pedigree with former club AC Milan, will follow suit.
Regarding his ambitions for the future, Terry added that he would ensure that his name was the first on the team-sheet. “100 per cent. Probably more so than any other player. I want to make sure first and foremost that I am in the team.”
He continued, “When a manager comes into the football club he can have different ideas. These are things that go through your mind as a player, I promise you, it doesn't matter who you are.“You have seen in the England team with Michael Owen when people are out of favour, they don't get a look in,” he concluded.
Italian tactician Ancelotti was officially announced as the next full time boss at the Stamford Bridge outfit last month, but only began his tenure on July 1.
