West Ham's Loan Star Jimenez Reveals Vieira Inspiration
The Internazionale playmaker has spoken of how Patrick Vieira talked up the strength and attraction of the Premier League...
Internazionale attacker Luis Jimenez, currently on loan at Gianfranco Zola's exciting East End outfit West Ham United, has revealed how former Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira was the catalyst for his temporary switch to the Premier League.
Jimenez is quoted by Express as saying, “I’ve spoken to Patrick about the Premier League and he loves it.
He told me the fans are great and if I get the chance to come I should
take it.
“Now I’ve got that chance,” he concluded.
Despite not reaching the heights of his ambitions in Italy's Serie A, Jimenez can prove a hit at the Boleyn Ground due to his exceptional ability when the ball is at his feet.
Regarding the different culture of football in England, the physicality, speed, and whether he can settle in such an environment, Jimenez explained that the lure of Zola's idealistic way of playing football should bring out his own 'A game'.
He said, “I
preferred this option because I really admire the way they try to play.
Gianfranco Zola was one of the things that drew me to West Ham - I can identify
with the type of football he wants to play.”
