OFFICIAL: Wigan Athletic Sign Deportivo Olimpia's Hendry Thomas
The 24-year-old has inked a three-year deal with the Latics...
Wigan have strong ties with Deportivo Olimpia, Thomas' former club, having signed Wilson Palacios and Maynor Figueroa from los Leones in the past.
Manager Roberto Martinez is delighted to have secured the signing, telling the club's official website, "He is a powerful figure in midfield, who can sit in front of the back four and destroy attacks, or can also come forward and score. He is another quality addition to the squad."
Wigan have beaten off a number of clubs to sign Thomas, who made his Olimpia debut at just 16. The midfielder has also won 31 caps for Honduras and is excited about joining up with his new team-mates.
"It is a dream come true for me to come to England," Thomas enthused. "I have talked a lot with Maynor and Wilson about the club and I can't wait to start now.
"I want to thank Roberto Martinez and Wigan Athletic for giving me the chance to come here and I'm determined to show them they have not made a mistake."
