Mark Hughes Frustrated By Slow Manchester City Transfers
City will 'walk away' if they have to, says Sparky...
Manchester City manager Mark Hughes has admitted to there being some frustration at not being able to tie up his latest transfer deals quickly.
City are waiting on news regarding their attempts to sign strikers Carlos Tevez and Samuel Eto'o, both strongly linked with moves to Eastlands this summer.
But Hughes insists the club will pull the plug on any transfers that should hold up the development of the team.
“There’s always an element of frustration when you can’t conclude deals quickly," he said, according to Telegraph.co.uk.
"We will give every deal the patience we feel it deserves and if we get to a point where we feel things aren’t going to happen and we feel the process is stalling then that’s the time we walk away and we’ve done that in the past.
“It’s difficult to say whether Eto’o is more likely now than a few days ago. We made an offer to Barcelona but now there seems to be a situation between the player and his club, and we’re not involved in that.
"We have to stand back and see whether it develops.”
Meanwhile, Hughes also stated the target for the coming season could be to get into a Champions League qualifying position, despite previously calling for patience from City fans.
He added, “With the players we have now the challenge will be to get in the top four already.
“But everyone knows what fantastic players they are [and] the quality they will bring to the team. It will help bring the sort of quality we need to make sure all the players improve and work harder.”
