Tottenham Hotspur defender Michael Dawson has reflected on what he believes to be a good season under manager Harry Redknapp.

Spurs made a disastrous start to the term under Juande Ramos, accumulating just two points from their first eight games - a record low for any Tottenham league campaign in history.

Redknapp's arrival steadied the ship though, and Dawson praised the eighth-place finish in context of the nightmare beginning the club endured.

"When Harry came in after eight games, things turned around for a couple of months and it was looking good again until we went through another bad patch," he told Spurs TV Online.

"But it was always going to be an uphill battle after the start we made, so to get back in contention and climb up the table was good."

Dawson was also pleased to have an extended run of starts this season as Spurs attempted to cater for the long-term knee problems suffered by club captain Ledley King.

He said, "I played quite a few games, which was very good from a personal point of view. I love playing football and that's what it boils down to at the end of the day.

"To come back from where we were to be in with a chance of qualifying for Europe on the final day makes it seem like a good season."
