Hull City Frustrated By Marc-Antoine Fortune Delay
All terms have been agreed, but the striker is yet to commit to a move, and Hull are losing patience...
Hull City are growing increasingly frustrated by Marc-Antoine Fortune's deliberation over their offer, forcing them to look elsewhere.
Fortune was widely expected to join Hull from Nancy after all parties agreed terms, but with West Ham United and Celtic showing late interest, the forward is stalling on his decision.
Hull manager Phil Brown's patience is running out, and he told The Guardian, "The Fortune issue hasn't moved in the last 48 hours.
""We are confident we are still in pole position, but these things are always a concern when they are not done and dusted. If there is not a decision in the next 24 or 48 hours, we are going to have to move on to other players."
Celtic's late interest has complicated things further, as they are now managed by Tony Mowbray, who oversaw Fortune's loan spell at West Bromwich Albion last season.
However, Hull chairman Paul Duffen remains committed to signing attacking reinforcements, and he said, "We will strengthen this club this summer, we will bring in strikers.
"It will mean we can compete with an ambition to finish mid-table rather than scrapping at the bottom, but we are only going to do it on the basis that it doesn't threaten the financial security of the football club."
The club are also trying to sign England U-21 international Fraizer Campbell for £6 million, while retaining an interest in Michael Owen and Bobby Zamora.
