The Toffees did not exercise their purchase option, but the striker will be returning to Goodison for a year anyway...
The Brazilian, whom City signed for around £18 million last summer, found first-team opportunities hard to come by at Eastlands and was subsequently loaned out to Everton in February.
Now, according to The Sun, the Toffees are ready to take him on loan for another season.
The original loan deal did have an option to make the move permanent at the end of it, but Everton declined to take it up.
However, City are still said to be willing to let Jo return to Goodison Park on loan, because they do not have enough space for him in their squad, and have had no suitable offers for his permanent transfer.
Jo was fairly successful during his spell at Everton, scoring 5 goals in 12 appearances.
