FIFA President Blatter Hits Out At Premier League's Riches
The Swiss has once again expressed his displeasure at the vast sums of money floating around in England...
FIFA president Sepp Blatter has once again criticised the spending power of the Premier League.
Recent rumours surrounding Manchester City and Chelsea's potential spending have again got Blatter worried about the advantage he perceives Premier League clubs to have due to their foreign ownership.
Speaking to BBC Sport, he said, "In France, Germany and Spain there are by-laws that say owners must be from the same country.
"This does not exist in the Premier League and it is a problem we must address."
However, FIFA are powerless to actually make any changes, as foreign ownership does not contravene any British laws - a fact which Blatter acknowledged.
He continued, "We have no right to interfere in economic movements. We, the whole FIFA family, are aware of this."
Nine clubs in the Premier League are foreign-owned, but the biggest spenders in Europe this summer have been Real Madrid, who have shelled out around €160 million on the signings of Kaka and Cristiano Ronaldo, helped in part by a €150m loan from Spanish banks.
