Manchester United's trick-filled winger Nani could be used as a makeweight in any Luis Antonio Valencia transfer, according to The Mirror, who believe Wigan Athletic will be more willing to do business if there is a player-plus-cash deal being tabled.

Nani has failed to establish himself at the Theatre of Dreams. The 22-year-old has proved that he can score spectacular goals from distance, and that he is not averse to step-overs or celebratory back-flips, but his decision-making is often questionable.

The Portuguese international was signed for £14 million in 2007, and there had been speculation linking the winger with a return to former club Sporting Lisbon.

However, a chance to remain in the Premier League could sway the attacker.

United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is still on the search for potential candidates to replace the obvious void that will be left by Cristiano Ronaldo's imminent exit. Argentinean international Sergio Aguero, who has been likened to Brazil legend Romario, is a rumoured target of the former Aberdeen manager.
