Tottenham Hotspur Warn Sunderland Off Tom Huddlestone - Report

The Black Cats have been dealt a blow after being told that Huddlestone is not for sale...

Tom Huddlestone - Tottenham Hotspur
Although Sunderland manager Steve Bruce is backed by considerable financial muscle, he is having more trouble in the transfer market than he would have bargained for.

According to The Telegraph, Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has told Bruce that Tom Huddlestone is not for sale. This may come as something of a surprise for the Sunderland boss, as Huddlestone did not hold down a regular first team place last year.

The burly central midfielder has many talents, and had it not been for an injury would be in Sweden with the England Under-21 squad. Despite his lack of playing time, Redknapp wants to keep Huddlestone and use his excellent vision and range of passing.

It now appears that Bruce will have to look elsewhere for his midfield reinforcements, with £7 million-rated Lee Cattermole top of his wish-list. Cattermole has been performing well for both Wigan Athletic and the England U-21s. His physical style is exactly what Bruce is looking for.
