Harry Redknapp Worries For Manchester United, Post-Cristiano Ronaldo
The Tottenham boss feels that Ronaldo's departure could spark an exodus...
Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp fears for the future of England's flagship club Manchester United, as he feels the £80 million departure of Cristiano Ronaldo could have drastic ramifications for the club starting with where hard-working Argentine forward Carlos Tevez will be playing his football next season.
"Ronaldo has gone, who knows what will happen to Carlos Tevez
and Manchester United are still hurting from the pain of their
Champions League final defeat," Redknapp wrote in his column for British tabloid The Sun.
"Old Trafford is suddenly looking a bit wobbly," he said. "So if I was the manager of Birmingham City this morning, I would be thinking: Result!
"The Premier League newcomers were handed what many pundits would consider a nightmare draw when next season’s fixtures were announced yesterday.
"There is no better showcase for a newly-promoted team to show the country it is not just there for the taking than going to Old Trafford on the opening day and getting a point, maybe even three, and causing a shock."
Redknapp continued, "And this is United without Ronaldo, the one player who has consistently scored so many crucial goals for them. There are plenty of great players left, of course, and no doubt Fergie is going to spend a few quid on new buys.
"I do not believe there is one single player in the world capable of filling the gap left by Ronaldo’s move to Real Madrid."
