Manchester United Target Barcelona Keeper Victor Valdes
The Red Devils again look for a long term successor to Van der Sar and the British press believe they've honed in on an unlikely target...
The Red Devils boss is currently looking for a long term successor for the Dutch keeper, who is set to retire in the next couple of years, and Ferguson's attention has now turned on Valdes.
The 27-year-old keeper has been the No. 1 choice at Camp Nou for the past few years, and has been at the club his entire career.
If the United manager wishes to take him to Old Trafford it would take a very big offer for the Spanish keeper to move.
Barcelona beat the Red Devils in the Champions League final last season, and picked up the domestic league and cup double.
The Catalonia born player has been offered new contract with the Primera Division champions, but has rejected the deal, and is now holding out for higher wages.
The Spanish keeper has stated that he wants the same high wage structure as the club's biggest stars, but the demands could lead to his exit from the club.
United have been on the lookout for a keeper for sometime now, with Le Mans' Yohann Pele and Villarreal's Diego Lopez thought to be high on Ferguson's list of potential signings.
