Richard Stearman Convinced Wolverhampton Wanderers Will Be Ready For The Big Time

The Wolves star has full faith in the gaffer's ability to attract the type of players needed to keep them up...

Richard Stearman insists he is not worried about the relative lack of transfer activity at Wolverhampton Wanderers ahead of their first season back in the Premier League.

West Brom found out the hard way that being promoted as champions is by no means a guarantee of top flight survival, and the overwhelming belief is that Wolves boss Mick McCarthy will have to be very busy in the transfer market if they are to have any chance of avoiding going straight back down.

Ronald Zubar (Marseille), Danny Shittu (Bolton), Oguchi Onyewu (Standard Liege) and David Martin (Millwall) and Nenad Milijas (Red Star Belgrade) are just a sampling of the names being linked to the Molineux men, but so far nothing concrete has materialised.

"I'm not really that surprised that we haven't brought anyone in yet," Wolves star Stearman was quoted as saying by Sky Sports.

"We have been linked with a lot of players but if you look across the board not many clubs have signed anyone yet. It's still early days. Let's not panic just yet.

"Hopefully the fans can remain patient - a lot of players are away on their holidays at the moment enjoying their summer so it's always a quiet time of year.

"Not many people have splashed the cash yet so I'm sure the gaffer and the rest of the backroom staff will be looking to bring in the right players and not just panic buying," he stressed.

"I've said previously we've got the nucleus of a good team we're going to carry forward into the Premier League. Now we just have to make the right additions to the squad."
