Tottenham's Bid For Real Madrid's Ruud van Nistelrooy Hits Snag

The Dutch striker's transfer to Spurs appears to have come across a problem in the form of club chairman Daniel Levy...
While big-spending Real Madrid are ready to allow Ruud van Nistelrooy to quit the club, it appears that Daniel Levy is less enthusiastic about the deal.

The Daily Mirror is reporting that Harry Redknapp is yet to convince him that the 32-year old would be a worthy investment, as he has a history of serious injury problems and spent the majority of last season on the sidelines after suffering a knee problem in November.

Levy is therefore reluctant to agree to van Nistelrooy's alleged demands of £80,000 a week, although the fee is likely only to be nominal if Roman Pavlyuchenko leaves.

With Los Merengues splashing the cash under Florentino Perez, they are eager to offload van Nistelrooy, now it is up to Harry Redknapp to convince his chairman that he is is worth the investment.

Tottenham are looking to add to their striking department, with Darren Bent and Pavlyuchenko likely to leave this summer. Despite his injury problems, van Nistelrooy is a proven goalscorer in England, Spain and Holland and may be the man to take Spurs up a level.
