The Daily Mail is reporting Stoke manager Tony Pulis to be interested in the Republic of Ireland international as he aims to strengthen his side in preparation for a second season in the Premier League.
Pulis may have to contend with Tottenham Hotspur for Dunne's signature as Harry Redknapp is also said to be keen on the 29-year-old, who could serve as cover for injury-hit Ledley King.
With big money being spent by City, Dunne could soon find himself with plenty of competition at Eastlands and out of favour with manager Mark Hughes, as the blue side of Manchester looks to become a dominant force.
Pulis and Redknapp could also enter into battle for the signing of Marseille striker Djibril Cisse, as Stoke have signalled their interest in the Frenchmen.
Cisse has been vocal in his admiration for Tottenham however, and would favour a move to White Hart Lane, should the possibility arise.
