Phil Brown Confirms Hull City Are Targeting Fraizer Campbell
The young Manchester United striker could soon be on his back to East Yorkshire...
Campbell returned to Old Trafford last summer, and then spent a frustrating season on loan at Tottenham Hotspur, but The Hull Daily Mail is reporting that City manager Phil Brown could be set to make an offer for the player, currently valued at around £5 million.
Hull did have a £7 million bid for the 21-year-old turned down by the Red Devils last September, but Brown feels that a fairly anonymous season at White Hart Lane might mean that the striker now wants a move.
"Of course we're interested in Fraizer, but there will be an awful lot of other clubs who are interested in him," Brown told The Mail.
"I believe Stevie Bruce [Sunderland manager] is an admirer, Tony Pulis [Stoke City boss] is an admirer and Roy Hodgson [Fulham manager] is an admirer.
"He's a player with a lot of supporters all over the Premier League. We are interested but it's going to be a tight one.
He's had a tough season for a kid who just wants to play football."What doesn't break you, will make you and he's had a year of experience with Hull City and gone back to Manchester United a better player.
"Now he's had a year with Tottenham and he'll go back to Manchester United a better player again.
"Regardless of him playing three games or 33 games, he'll have improved this season."
Campbell is currently away with the England Under-21s, which could complicate any hope of a quick deal Hull may have.
