Aston Villa Chase Joleon Lescott and David Bentley - Report

With that Barry cash burning a hole in his pocket, the Villa boss is looking to bring in a brace of England internationals....

England Press Conference: Joleon Lescott (PA)
Despite losing his talismanic midfielder, Gareth Barry, Aston Villa manager Martin O'Neill is in no rush to find a replacement.

The former Celtic and Leicester City boss reassured midfielders Steven Sidwell and Nigel Reo-Coker yesterday, just hours before news of Barry's move to Manchester City broke.

With O'Neill confident he already has the players to replace Barry, reports in English paper Metro suggest he may be ready to move for out-of-favour Tottenham Hotspur midfielder David Bentley.

Bentley cost Spurs £15 million from Blackburn Rovers last summer, but has failed to command a regular place in Harry Redknapp's team.

Everton's Joleon Lescott will be another target for O'Neill, who will be looking to replace recently retired club captain Martin Laursen.

If Villa fail in a bid for Lescott they may turn their attention to former Villain Gary Cahill.

Cahill left for Bolton just 18 months ago and impressive performances have earnt him an England call-up.
