Werder Bremen Striker Claudio Pizarro To Shun Chelsea Return

Chelsea's Peruvian forward, Claudio Pizarro, would rather not return to the club following a successful season on loan at Werder Bremen.

Pizarro netted 26 strikes in all competitions to help the Bundesliga side to the DFB Pokal title and to the UEFA Cup final.

His side's European run included a thrilling 2-2 draw at San Siro against AC Milan; Pizarro scored a brace as his side ousted Carlo Ancelotti's Rossoneri.

With the Italian now in charge at Stamford Bridge, there may be an opportunity for the three-time Bundesliga winner to impress his new manager.

However, the 30 year-old is hoping to stay in Germany and claims that his parent club have not been in contact since the season ended a week ago.

He told Bild, "I am not in touch with anyone from Chelsea Football Club.

"I could imagine staying on as a player of Werder Bremen."

Club director, Willi Lemke, confirmed that Werder are attempting to thrash out a financial arrangement that would see Pizarro stay at the Weserstadion on a permanent basis.

He said, "If there is a concrete plan of how to fund the stay of Claudio Pizarro and if this is brought to us by Klaus Allofs, we would absolutely support an attempt to keep hold of a valuable player."
