Arsenal-Target Marouane Chamakh To Stay With Bordeaux

Lifting the Ligue 1 trophy with Bordeaux has convinced the Moroccan ace that he really does love it at the club...

Arsenal's hopes of luring Marouane Chamakh away from Bordeaux appear to have been dashed.

The spring-stepped Moroccan forward, who has been linked with the Gunners for several months already, had previously gone on record as saying that he would definitely leave Bordeaux should they win the league.

Les Girondins did end up clinching the title on the final day, thanks in no small part to Chamakh's contribution, but this has now apparently led to him having a change of heart.

Chamakh told skysports.com, "I will stay here next season, I want to be part of the club.

"I like the team spirit here. It is true I wanted to leave and I want to realise my dream of playing in the Premier League, but I owe something back to Bordeaux.

"I will stay next season. I want to be part of this great team and we are looking forward to next year's Champions League."

Tottenham had also been linked with the 50-time capped Morocco international.
