Roberto Mancini's Agent Plays Down Sunderland Reports
'Mancio' no longer appears as close to joining Sunderland as previous reports had suggested...
Roberto Mancini's agent has poured cold water on reports linking his client to manager-less Premier League club Sunderland.
As last week drew to a close, the Italian tactician was quoted as saying that he had a received an offer from the Black Cats and that it would be an honour to manage them.
The latest soundbytes from the Mancini camp, however, suggest that the previous quotes were falsified, or at the very least exaggerated.
"Mancini is aware of those reports," agent Giorgio De Giorgis was quoted as saying by Sky Sports.
"But we have not received an offer, nor have we been in touch with anyone from Sunderland.
"There has been interest from English teams but Sunderland is not one of them.
"However, no official offers have been made."
The former Inter coach had been the bookies' favourite to take charge at the Stadium of Light, though it remains to be seen how the latest developments will effect the betting odds.
