Leighton Baines Reveals Everton's 'Bitter' Disappointment

Everton are feeling the sting of yesterday's defeat at Wembley to Chelsea in the FA Cup final very intensely, according to the club's England international defender Leighton Baines.
The Toffees were fired into a first-minute lead by striker Louis Saha, but ended up losing 2-1 to the Londoners, as strikes from Didier Drogba and Frank Lampard cancelled out their opener. And the disappointment of losing in such a manner has left the Everton players devastated, Baines revealed to the club's official website.
"Everyone is bitterly disappointed," he said.
"It was such a big day and such a big occasion. For us to come here, we haven't quite managed to perform the way we would have like to.
"We got off to a flying start but Chelsea were strong and really experienced. They didn't panic and they kept the ball and made it difficult for us."
However, Baines was also at pains to point out that another season of solid progress under the astute management of David Moyes was something to be very proud of, as well as providing a good base for more development next season.
"Everyone has worked really hard and everyone deserves congratulating," he added.
"The lads can take credit from what we have done this season."
Yesterday's win was Chelsea's fifth in total in the world's oldest cup competition, a tally that now matches that of the Toffees.
