Manchester City defender Tal Ben-Haim is close to agreeing a deal with Blackburn Rovers, according to The News of the World.

The Israel international spent the second half of the season on loan at Sunderland after failing to gain a regular spot in the City side.

Now it seems City are willing to sell the versatile defender, and Rovers boss Sam Allardyce is reportedly keen to secure his services.

Big Sam worked with the 27-year-old during their time together at Bolton Wanderers, with Allardyce being responsible for bringing the defender to England.

The former Chelsea defender has become surplus to requirements at City of Manchester Stadium, and it is believed that the defender has started to look for a new club.

Reports suggest that the Israeli international would be interested in a move to Ewood Park, and is hopeful of a deal to reunite him with his former manager.

Blackburn are looking to rebuild their squad after escaping relegation this season, with Allardyce claiming that many changes will be taking place this summer.

The former Bolton boss will find it hard to retain the services of influential striker Roque Santa Cruz, but it is expected that the Paraguayan will be sold in order to raise funds for new players.
