Manchester United Players Must Learn From John Terry – Fabio Capello

The Red Devils must forget about Barcelona and can use JT as their inspiration.

England manager Fabio Capello has admitted that he is hoping that Manchester United’s players can respond to their Champions League final defeat in the same way as John Terry did last season.

The Chelsea skipper famously missed a crucial penalty in last year’s final to all but hand the Red Devils the trophy.

However, despite departing the field in tears, the defender bounced back in impressive style by scoring in his next fixture, an international friendly between England and the USA.

With the Three Lions back in action next weekend, Capello has explained he is hoping the Manchester United players in his squad can show the same character.

"That's what I want from my United players,” the Italian told the News of the World.

“I hope they will have the same reaction as John Terry.

“I was so impressed with him. I thought even more of him after that. He is such a winner, such a fighter, such a competitor.”

The England boss also admitted the losing was an important part of football and something that must be overcome.

“I played and managed in four finals and won only once. But, afterwards, you just have to forget all about it. You have to look to the future,” he said.

"This is football and it's normal that you win big games and you lose big games. And that's what I expect from my players.”

England take on Kazakhstan next Saturday before facing Andorra at Wembley the following Wednesday, and Capello made it clear he was expecting six points from the two games.

“We go to Kazakhstan to win because this is a very important game,” he explained.

“If we get six points against Kazakhstan and Andorra that will be a very big step towards South Africa.

“We would just need three more points to be sure.”
