Joey Barton Has No Future At Newcastle United - Report
Despised by his team-mates and staff, the midfielder's days at the Toon are effectively over, it seems...
Newcastle United will not be offering Joey Barton any more opportunities to redeem himself for his troubled, and indeed criminal, past at the club, even though his talents would doubtless prove useful in attempting to win promotion from the Championship.
Although uncertainty still surrounds the future of the Toon, with Alan Shearer still involved in discussions with owner Mike Ashley over his future, it seems Barton is on his way out, whoever becomes Magpies boss.
The Newcastle Chronicle claims that Shearer's appointment as manager will be confirmed shortly, though Sky Sports News is reporting that there will be no announcement until next week, and that one of his first acts will be to rid the club of Barton, whose disciplinary indiscretions throughout his career are too numerous to list here, though they include a jail sentence for assault.
Bolton Wanderers are reported as being interested in the player, though Blackburn Rovers have also been linked with him. The Chronicle implies that a £2 million fee should be enough to complete the deal.
