Manchester United were second-best for much of Wednesday evening's 2-0 Champions League final defeat against Barcelona, but legendary forward Sir Bobby Charlton believes Sir Alex Ferguson's men will suitably recover and be ready to challenge next season.
''We know it is going to be tough and hard even to win your own league, but the long-term plan gives you a consistency,'' said Charlton, a club ambassador, to ESPN.
''The plans Ferguson is putting in place now will be there long after he has gone, which I hope is not for a long time yet," he added.
''[He] is a unique person. He thrives on success. The more
he gets the more he wants.
"The long-term plan has always been part of
his philosophy."
United were previously unbeaten in the Champions League for two years.
