Middlesbrough Discussing Juninho Return

The Brazilian could be set to make a fifth return to Teesside...

Juninho Paulista

Middlesbrough legend Juninho Paulista, who is held in high esteem around Teesside for his effervescent displays, is in continuing talks with chairman Steve Gibson over a return to the North East club.

The recently relegated outfit will be playing Championship football next season, but the return of Juninho - who is expected to be taking up an ambassadorial role with the club - could be enough to bring a smile back to the faces of Middlesbrough fans.

Gibson was speaking to BBC Radio Tees about Juninho. The pursuit began over a month ago, as the Brazilian was initially sounded out as a possible 'South American representative'.

Talks are understood to be taking place.

Juninho, a diminutive midfielder by trade, led a well-travelled career. He played for Celtic, Sao Paulo, Atletico Madrid, Vasco, Flamengo, and Sydney.

He has signed for Middlesbrough an incredible four times.
