thumbnail Hello,

The veteran Red Devil has been recalled to his country's colours...

Fabio Capello has today named his England squad for the forthcoming qualifiers against Kazakhstan and Andorra, with 24 players in the party. One surprise has been the recall of Manchester United right-back Gary Neville, who has missed much of the season through injury. It is Neville's first call-up since the Italian became national team coach.

Tottenham Hotspur striker Jermain Defoe, another man afflicted by injury in recent months, also returns to the squad.

As regards the Three Lions' goalkeepers, the injured David James and Ben Foster are both omitted, with the glovesmen this time being West Bromwich Albion's Scott Carson, Blackburn Rovers' Paul Robinson and West Ham United's Robert Green.

Manchester City's Wayne Bridge is recalled, and Rio Ferdinand is included despite suffering with a back problem.

Bridge's team-mate Shaun Wright-Phillips boosts Capello's wide options, despite carrying an injury, and Theo Walcott also finds himself in the senior ranks. Aston Villa's Ashley Young also returns.

West Ham's Carlton Cole also earns a recall, after making his senior Three Lions debut this season.
