Allardyce Confirms That Tugay Will Start For Blackburn Rovers On Sunday
The veteran Turk will be making his farewell appearance on Sunday at Ewood Park...
Although the game is largely meaningless, with Albion relegated and Rovers safe, the former Turkish international will play from the start, as he looks to bid farewell to the fans who have taken him to their Lancashire hearts.
"Tugay will play, there is no doubt about that," Allardyce told Rovers' official website.
"He has been in good form in the last few games and I'm sure he will get a fantastic send off from the supporters at Ewood. If we can win - better still."
Allardyce, obviously pleased to be free of the final day stress affecting other managers in the Premier League's basement, confirmed that it was never a pleasant situation in which to find oneself, as his own experience at Bolton Wanderers testified.
"As for the relegation situation, I have first hand knowledge [at
Bolton] of trying to stay up right at the death. I have to say it was
one of the hardest weeks of my management career," he added.
"It is very difficult to cope in terms of what you do with your players, all the speculation that comes around it and all the permutations.
"It is difficult to sleep, it is difficult to pick your side and it is difficult to prepare the players. But, thankfully, we don't have to do that I'm glad to say, it is a huge relief to sit back and read about all the other teams involved. My heart goes out to them all."Zack Wilson, Goal.com
