Habib Beye To Miss Newcastle United's Clash With Aston Villa

More problems for Alan Shearer and his weary troops...

Habib Beye - Newcastle United
Newcastle United have been dealt a blow in their quest to avoid relegation from the Premier League as Senegal defender Habib Beye will miss the club's crucial last game of the season against Aston Villa.

The right-back suffered a hamstring strain during the Magpies' 1-0 home defeat at the hands of Fulham last week and has been definitively ruled out of Newcastle's must-win game at Villa Park this Sunday.

The former Olympique de Marseille defender has featured in six of Newcastle's seven league wins this season, including the reverse fixture at St. James' Park, which the Magpies won 2-0.

His absence is therefore a sucker-punch for Alan Shearer, who is also planning without the suspended Sebastien Bassong.

Shearer told nufcTV, "Unfortunately Habib won't be fit and that's a blow.

"He's been fantastic for me but we've got other players who will now come in and we'll be looking for them to do a job."

Ryan Taylor or Steven Taylor could deputise at right-back, with Fabricio Coloccini likely to return to the line-up in the heart of defence.
