Arsene Wenger has held talks with Arsenal's biggest shareholders - American sports entrepreneur Stan Kroenke and Uzbek billionaire Alisher Usmanov, who own 53 per cent of the club between them - over the future of himself, and the club.
Kroenke and Usmanov, though, according to The Times, provided Wenger with numerous assurances about the security of his position at the club, as they both regarded the Frenchman as a crucial asset to the north London outfit's future.
It has been widely speculated that Wenger will need to sell before he buys this summer, as he has only been provided an estimated £11 million for his transfer warchest, with that figure being considerably dwindled every time he secures a member of the current first team down to a new contract.
Togolese targetman Emmanuel Adebayor has been linked with a move to Serie A champions Internazionale.
PSG defender Mamadou Sakho remains on the Gunners' radar.
